After the August presidential election, Belarus became a country with tens of thousands of people who were detained, beaten, literally tortured, physically and psychologically. Someday all the evidence will be collected, all cases of torture and ill-treatment will be documented. Today it is extremely important to try to imagine and understand what our compatriots went through in various prisons, police departments, pre-trial detention centers and hospitals.

How is it when dozens of people suffocate in a cell designed for a couple of people? How is it when men are crawling with their hands tied along the corridor covered with blood and urine, and they are being beaten? When people are stacked in a paddy wagon, beaten and threatened to be buried in the woods?
The stories of our characters are different. But almost everyone at some point in the conversation said the unexpected: I was being lucky. I was lucky, because someone was beaten harder, so I didn't ask for help. I was lucky because I was able to escape from the country. Lucky... to stay alive.
